Sealants

Children should receive sealants on their 6 year old and 12 year old molars  The back four molars are usually the teeth that receive sealants.  Sealants help protect the teeth from future cavities.  Our hygienist will place gel on the back teeth keeping them dry during the process.  After rinsing off the gel, she will apply a quick drying sealant liquid on the teeth and solidify the substance with a strong light.  It usually takes less than 2 minutes per tooth and is a painless process!"

After this procedure, the back teeth may feel different and it will take a while to get used to. These sealants will last for many years as long as you continue to brush and floss as normal.  Even though sealants are applied, it is still important to come in for your 6 month cleanings and eat a healthy diet!
